Program
Day 1: Foum Zguid – Erg El Mhazil
- Departure: Start in the early afternoon from Foum Zguid by 4×4, traveling through Iriki National Park.
- Highlights:
- Admire the “Colorado of the Moroccan Desert” with its striking plateau-shaped rock formations.
- Journey through vast plains and dunes until reaching Erg El Mhazil.
- Evening:
- Arrive at the campsite, set up amidst untouched sand dunes.
- Enjoy a traditional dinner around the campfire and marvel at the starry desert sky.
- Overnight stay in a tent or under the open sky.
Day 2: Erg El Mhazil – Erg El Ghoule
- Morning:
- After breakfast, begin a 4-hour trek accompanied by a camel caravan carrying your gear.
- Walk at a comfortable pace, savoring the silence, sand, and subtle desert life.
- Afternoon:
- Arrive at Erg El Ghoule. Set up camp and explore the surrounding area.
- Climb the highest dunes for breathtaking panoramic views.
- Evening:
- Share stories around the fire and enjoy music played in nomadic tradition.
- Overnight stay in the camp, with options to sleep in a tent or under the stars.
Day 3: Erg El Ghoule – Nomad School – Foum Zguid
- Morning:
- Witness the sunrise over the dunes for a peaceful start to the day.
- Dismantle the camp and begin a 2-hour trek to the Nomad School, where local children learn in a large tented classroom.
- Interact with the children and their families, gaining insight into nomadic life.
- Afternoon:
- Stop for a picnic under the shade of an acacia tree.
- Return to Foum Zguid via the vast plains of the dried Lake Iriki.
- Conclude the trek by late afternoon.
